Wholesale Stand Up Pouches and Bulk Bag Supplies: Setting Up a Reorder Program
The first order of any packaging is the hard part: you choose the bag, approve the artwork and wait for the samples. After that, the risk changes. Running out mid-season, or receiving a reorder that looks slightly different from the last one, hurts a business far more than the price of the bags ever does.
This guide is for buyers who order the same packaging again and again, whether that is a wholesale stand up pouch for a retail line, bulk bag supplies for a plant, or both.
Wholesale stand up pouch programs vs one-off orders
| Order by order | Reorder program | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the stock waits | Nowhere, until you order again | In a warehouse near you, ready to call off |
| Running out | Possible every time demand jumps | Planned for, with stock on hand |
| Matching the last run | Rechecked from scratch each time | Locked to an approved sample and artwork |
| Paperwork | A new quote and approval each order | One agreed specification, reused |
We have 23 warehouse locations across North America, so a stock program can ship from a dock close to you, while new or custom builds are made to order at our partner plants.
Custom stand up pouch: what to lock down first
Whatever you call it, a doypack, a stand up pouch bag or simply a pouch, the reorder only stays consistent if the first one is written down properly. Before a custom stand up pouch goes into a repeat program, agree on:
- The film structure, chosen for your product and its shelf life.
- The size and the fill weight it is meant to hold.
- The closure: a zipper, a spout or a plain heat seal.
- The artwork version and the finish: gloss, matt or soft-touch.
- Any extras, such as a window, a hang hole, a tear notch or a degassing valve.
Keep one approved pouch from the first run as the reference. When the next delivery arrives, put the two side by side. If you already sell a pouch from another supplier and want to switch, send us one with your files and we will check how closely we can match it.
Stand up pouch bag stock: what to share with your supplier
Wholesale pouch buying works best when the supplier can see your year, not just your next order. Share three numbers and a good supplier can plan around them:
- How many pouches you use in a normal month.
- When your busy months are, and how much higher they run.
- How much stock you can hold yourself before you need the next delivery.
If you run several products in the same pouch size, ask whether they can share one film structure with different artwork. That keeps the specification simple and makes it easier to keep each design in stock.
Bulk bag supplies on the same reorder program
Many pouch buyers also bring their raw material in by the ton, and the same planning applies to bulk bag supplies. A typical program covers:
- Bulk bags built to one approved specification, with the drawing kept on file.
- Matching liners, so the bag and liner are always ordered together.
- Container liners, if you also ship product loose in containers.
- Woven sacks for anything sold or used in smaller portions.
Our partner plants can support production of more than 500,000 bulk bags a month, so a regular bag program and a one-off custom run can sit side by side without one holding up the other.
Signs you need a wholesale stand up pouch program
- You have reordered the same pouch or bag more than twice this year.
- A delivery has ever arrived looking different from the one before.
- You have had to pay for rush shipping because stock ran out.
- Your team spends time chasing quotes for packaging nobody has changed.
If two or more of those sound familiar, request a quote with your monthly usage and the pouch or bag you buy now, and we will put together a program around it. You can also contact our team to talk it through first.
